To September, I know is not easy for Tanzanian to understand real world! They like to judge and laugh at people without knowing the reason behind. For instance having calves is real a big deal in developed countries. This shows that you real care about your health (exercising)very well..instead having I call it (elephant legs) is a big deal in most African countries!Don't mind what they say about you!
Wear what you think is comfortable to you and not to them. As you know you can not please everybody...

We call vigimbi in Tanzania, just be free to wear any clothes u want.Don't care about people because God created u in that way.

Mdogo wangu September,
I am going to speak in English since you wrote it in English.
I think you should embrace your calves and be happy with them because if you look at countries like USA or Canada (that you live in),its not a big deal if u have calves in fact people see you even more athletic and involved which is a plus here. But also the fact that you are working out,I personally like toned and calved legs that is my goal for 2010 to work on it.But this is different in Tanzania whereas as a woman when you have calves you are seen more masculine and manly. One thing you can do is that if you dont want to feel more uncomfortable is that you can wear jeans or long skirts especially if you go out in public(if you dont want to be noticed that much while in TZ). All in all when you go back to TZ for the summer just wear things that make you feel comfortable when going out in public plus at the end of the day just embrace what you have because who cares?Live your life coz we only live once and enjoy every moment! Cheers
With love,
Sara.

Dear ms half tanzanian, as long as you're comfortable in your own skin, calves and all, who cares what other people think?
You can't please everyone with your looks. Wear anything you feel comfortable in as long as it is decent.
Karibu Tanzania, not everyone is that narrow and superficially minded

People they will what you see for yourself, if you are cool with it and have a positive factor on what you are wearing then that is what they will see. I wish i could tell to opt for long but light skirts when you are in Tz, BUT no,,, that cant be an option because if its a matter of hiding, till when are you going to do it? Flaut what you have my dear one... where what suite you, after all you are dressing for you and nobody else plus eyes dont kill.
